You will work to set up a lab from scratch, including spec’ing and purchasing all required lab equipment and tooling. You will have in-depth knowledge of modern synthetic organic chemistry and material properties, especially porous materials, experience in material characterization (e.g. TGA, XRD, BET surface area analysis) and how to interpret such results, contribute to systems level designs, and oversee external vendors to aid in sorbent R&D.
You will oversee all aspects of your projects, including initial requirements gathering, feasibility studies, full system design, purchasing and procurement, project management, manufacturing, contractor management, installation, and activation.
Responsibilities:
-
Oversee R&D efforts related to materials and sorbent development.
-
Create a roadmap for sorbent development, testing, and improvement strategies.
-
Create a roadmap for sorbent support development, testing, and improvement strategies.

Set up materials R&D lab from scratch.
-
Perform synthesis to create new materials, as necessary.
-
Execute tests to understand materials performance and characterization.
-
Data analysis and reporting.

Interface with vendors and external parties as necessary for project completion.
Requirements
Basic qualifications:
-
At least 3 years of experience (PhD and/or postdoc included) in the design, synthesis and characterization of novel materials, ideally for gas separation.
